SEEC TEACHING POSITIONS:

  • Lead teachers must have earned a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education (or a related field with a minimum of 15 credits in Early Childhood).

  • Associate Teachers meet DC licensing standards for Lead Teacher and are working toward the SEEC Lead criteria by gaining practical experience and/or additional coursework.

  • Assistant teachers bring a wide range of training and practical experience to the position. Assistants must have at least a high school diploma, although many have some college coursework.

SEEC PROFESSIONAL STAFF EXEMPLIFY:

  • Highest Quality Practice: SEEC teachers exhibit exemplary early childhood practices at all times, based upon professional criteria established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

  • Commitment: In order to maintain a stable learning environment for the children, teachers are required to give their commitment for the entire school year, September through August.

  • Teaming: Working as a member of a team is an integral part of teaching at SEEC. Team relationships begin in the classroom and extend out to the other teams in the Center, as well as to the SEEC program as a whole.

  • Responsibilities and Qualifications: It is each teacher’s responsibility to meet the daily needs of the children, helping to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities based upon the “Museum Magic” curriculum. Each works to establish an environment which is safe, interesting, challenging, and inviting to the children.

BENEFITS:

  • Compensation: SEEC strives for a balance of formal knowledge and practical experience among its teaching staff. Beginning salaries are based upon the level of college coursework attained, as well as years of experience in an early childhood classroom.
